Christmas Eve!

I think I'm just about set! The decorations are up; both Nativity scenes are arranged; there's some sort of menu for all prospective Christmassy meals (starting tonight with borscht and black bread; it gets hazier after that); all parcels are reported to have arrived safely at their destinations; and this year's gingerbread house was a huge gastronomic success, even if it proved regrettably structurally unsound, just as it was being brought to put before the assembled masses for eating . Here it is as it was before it collapsed:

If you look closely, you can see Santa just visible the other side of the open door. Note also the paved pathway,with chocolate rocks stuck on gingerbread pavers - I was proud of them, and they were the first parts to be seized and eaten. Note too (alas!) the wildly dipping roof, harbinger of disaster to come. Next year... next year...
